Job Description

Role Overview

You will take charge of a primary school classroom, delivering engaging, learner-centred lessons aligned with the Competency-Based Curriculum while also supporting the school’s transition to CBE practices. Your daily work involves preparing lesson materials, guiding students through practical activities, and monitoring each child’s academic and personal growth through continuous assessment and feedback. Your teaching has a direct impact on the school’s reputation for nurturing confident, capable, and well-rounded learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver schemes of work, lesson plans, and instructional activities that reflect the Competency-Based Curriculum and the needs of learners at different ability levels.
  • Conduct continuous and summative assessments, maintaining accurate records of learner progress and using results to adjust teaching methods.
  • Utilise available ICT tools to make lessons interactive and to support administrative tasks such as record keeping and report generation.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and well-disciplined classroom environment that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and collaboration.
  • Participate in co-curricular activities, including sports, clubs, music, and drama, guiding learners beyond the academic programme.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and fellow teaching staff regarding learner progress, challenges, and school events.
  • Contribute to school culture and events while adhering to professional standards, TSC guidelines, and the school’s internal policies.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be a fully registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
  • Hold a P1 Certificate or an upgraded Diploma in Education from a recognised institution.
  • Demonstrate at least three years of practical teaching experience, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Show proven competence and compliance with both Competency-Based Education (CBE) and Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) approaches.
  • Display excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly to young learners.
  • Working knowledge of ICT and its application in teaching and learning is considered an added advantage.
  • Show willingness to actively participate in co-curricular activities and contribute to the overall development of learners.
