Corporate Alliances Specialist, P-3, Fixed Term Position, Regional Services Division

Role Overview

This position supports the design and delivery of multi-country partnerships between a major children's rights organization and private-sector actors across Africa, combining revenue generation with non-financial influence. Day-to-day work includes advising country offices, cultivating relationships with companies and business associations, and helping corporate partners embed child-rights principles into their operations and strategies. The role matters because effective business engagement can unlock both funding and policy change that advance measurable results for children in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise country offices on identifying, developing, and finalizing financial and non-financial partnerships, covering everything from due diligence and pitch preparation to negotiation with sensitive industries such as extractives.
• Manage a portfolio of regional and multi-country corporate accounts, stewarding existing relationships and detecting opportunities to expand both financial contributions and advocacy outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance and training to country teams on business engagement, industry engagement, and child rights and business tools, ensuring that strategies connect to programmatic priorities.
• Lead selected regional initiatives with business associations, multi-stakeholder platforms, industry bodies, and governments to drive collective action around child rights.
• Support companies and stakeholders in reviewing their policies, practices, investments, and operations so child-rights considerations are integrated and negative impacts mitigated, including in extractive and other high-risk sectors.
• Help country offices integrate business engagement and child rights analysis into planning documents such as Country Programme Documents, Situation Analyses, and strategic reviews.
• Design and coordinate research and evidence-building efforts on how business investments and activities affect children, using findings to inform advocacy and programming.
• Contribute to the broader partnership team's objectives by handling related tasks and ensuring an integrated approach across financial and non-financial engagement.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, development, business, corporate social responsibility, public administration, or a related field.
• At least five years of professional experience in sustainability, human rights, or children's rights, with direct exposure to partnership-building and corporate engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate, provide technical advice, and manage complex stakeholder relationships with private-sector actors.
• Strong understanding of child rights and business frameworks, including how to apply them in programmatic, advocacy, or corporate settings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; working knowledge of French, Arabic, or another UN language is an asset.
• Prior experience in Africa, particularly in private-sector partnership roles or country-level engagement in development, fragile, or humanitarian contexts, is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation, and evidence generation for non-financial engagement or corporate accountability work.
