Cook

Overview

To prepare and provide safe, nutritious, and quality meals in accordance with the School’s menu and food hygiene standards, while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment. The Cook will ensure meals are prepared and served on time and work collaboratively with other staff to support the smooth running of the School’s food service operations.

Job description

• Prepare and cook meals according to the School’s menu and required standards.
• Ensure proper handling, preparation, storage, and serving of food.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of the kitchen and cooking equipment.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served within the required time.
• Monitor food supplies and report any shortages or kitchen requirements.
• Work closely with other staff members to ensure smooth and timely meal preparation.
• Follow assigned working hours and report to duty on time.
• Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A certificate or training in Food Production, Food & Beverage, Catering, or a related field will be an added advantage.

• Have proven experience working as a Cook, preferably in a school, institution, hotel, or similar setting.
• Possess a valid Food Handling Certificate.
• Have a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
• Have good knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
• Be reliable, disciplined, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Be able to work within the stipulated working hours and adhere to the School's schedule.
• Be physically able to perform the duties associated with the position.
• Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills.
