Role Overview
This position combines hands-on cleaning expertise with front-line team leadership at premium hospitality and commercial properties in Seychelles. You will spend your days both performing and directing sanitation work—coordinating crews, inspecting finished tasks, and stepping in for complex deep-cleaning jobs that require specialized equipment and chemical knowledge. Your efforts directly protect guest experiences, workplace safety, and the operational reputation of the facilities you manage.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily cleaning operations across assigned sites, assigning tasks to crew members, setting shift priorities, and verifying that every area meets established hygiene benchmarks before sign-off.
- Carry out routine, deep, and specialized cleaning procedures using appropriate machinery, tools, and chemical agents tailored to different surfaces such as marble, glass, upholstery, and high-traffic flooring.
- Inspect completed work and perform spot checks across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house zones to identify missed spots, maintenance issues, or safety hazards that require immediate attention.
- Train and mentor cleaning staff on proper sanitation techniques, equipment operation, chemical handling, and professional conduct, while providing constructive feedback to improve individual and team performance.
- Develop, update, and enforce standard operating procedures for all cleaning tasks, ensuring consistency, repeatability, and full compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Manage the safe storage, dilution, labeling, and usage of industrial cleaning chemicals, and enforce strict Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance among all team members.
- Monitor equipment condition and inventory levels, coordinate maintenance or repairs for malfunctioning machinery, and raise purchase requisitions for reagents, tools, and consumables to prevent work stoppages.
- Maintain incident logs, hazard reports, and equipment maintenance records, escalating critical issues to the Facilities Manager with clear documentation and recommended corrective actions.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a cleaning technician, housekeeping supervisor, operations team leader, or comparable role in professional sanitation, hospitality, or facilities management.
- Vocational certification or formal training in cleaning services, housekeeping, hospitality, or facilities management is considered an advantage.
- Prior work in luxury hotels, resorts, commercial complexes, or other high-traffic facilities is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of commercial cleaning machinery, including floor scrubbers, polishers, carpet extractors, and pressure washers.
- Working familiarity with surface-specific chemical applications, industrial safety regulations, and proper waste disposal protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise field teams, allocate workloads under time pressure, resolve operational conflicts, and maintain staff morale.
- High attention to detail with a meticulous approach to hygiene standards, structural upkeep, and quality inspection.
- Strong commitment to occupational health, hazard identification, chemical safety, and PPE enforcement.
