Role Overview
This Sales Intern role is embedded in the Customer Development team, where you will support the day-to-day execution of commercial plans across Kenya’s FMCG landscape. You will work closely with experienced commercial managers to analyse sales data, monitor market trends, and help shape in-store execution strategies. The position matters because it builds the talent pipeline for future commercial leaders who can navigate fast-moving consumer goods markets and deliver growth through customer relationships and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in rolling out sales strategies that align with business growth targets and market realities.
- Analyse performance metrics to identify sales opportunities, gaps, and actionable recommendations.
- Track competitor activity, consumer trends, and channel insights to inform the commercial team’s decisions.
- Prepare clear reports and business proposals based on data and market observations.
- Join customer visits with Customer Development Managers to understand modern trade, general trade, and distributor dynamics.
- Contribute to strategic improvement projects within the Customer Development function, from research to presentation of findings.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Finance, Customer Service & Logistics, and Supply Chain teams on cross-functional initiatives.
- Engage in structured learning sessions, coaching, and mentorship to build commercial and leadership skills.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or final-year student) in Business, Marketing, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a closely related field.
- Strong academic record that demonstrates analytical capability and intellectual curiosity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and professional presentations.
- Demonstrated initiative through leadership roles in student organisations, entrepreneurial ventures, community projects, or prior internships (advantageous but not required).
- Personal attributes: high self-motivation, resilience, strong communication and interpersonal skills, learning agility, integrity, and comfort working in diverse, fast-paced environments.
- Willingness to travel across Kenya as business needs dictate.
