This position bridges rapid fiscal execution with quality hospitality; you will anchor the customer journey from active product scanning and digital payment processing through to direct dispute handling. Scope of Responsibilities

Financial Transactions & Payment Processing

• Receive, verify, and process high-volume customer settlements via physical cash, mobile money platforms, and approved digital channels.

• Operate the digital Point of Sale (POS) system with absolute precision, speed, and structural accuracy.

• Compute exact customer change balances, issue official purchase receipts, and maintain chronological transaction records.

• Conduct initial cash float counts at the commencement of each shift and finalize full cash register drawdowns upon close.

Hospitality & Front-Line Support

• Welcome customers professionally, facilitating an organized, rapid, and stress-free checkout workflow.

• Offer accurate information regarding active product prices, promotional discounts, and internal store return guidelines.

• Mitigate minor client checkout grievances with complete composure, immediately routing intricate issues to floor management.

Retail Inventory & Merchandising Support

• Monitor and audit available stock levels of high-turnover items situated within the immediate counter perimeter.

• Assist store teams with structural shelf restocking, category arrangement, product displays, and general floor tidiness during off-peak windows.

• Flag and report item shortage trends, visible pricing tag mismatches, or damaged packaging lines to the operational supervisor.

• Guarantee the absolute sanitization, organization, and neatness of checkout counters and auxiliary customer shopping baskets.

Accountability, Controls & Compliance

• Follow strict internal company cash-handling policies, transaction thresholds, and financial control frameworks.

• Insulate active corporate funds from shrinkage, minimizing transaction entry faults and processing errors.

• Draft precise, time-stamped end-of-shift reconciliation logs, noting any systemic system outages, cash variances, or hardware lags.

Qualifications & Prerequisites

Minimum Requirements

• Academic Foundation: KCSE certificate, with an added advantage for a Diploma in Business Management, Accounting, Sales, or a related commercial discipline.

• Mandatory Experience: Definitive, hands-on experience working as a retail Cashier within a fast-paced minimart, supermarket, or retail storefront environment.

• Technical Skills: Practical familiarity with modern digital POS checkout hardware and automated merchant billing software.

• Mathematical Skillset: Strong core numerical competency, with the ability to compute balances and manage transaction logs accurately.
