Job Purpose
To provide Information Education and communication as well as the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation programs for cancer patients. Also to secure Oncology Commodity and Technologies, capacity building, cancer research as well as maintaining the National Cancer Registry. Additionally, participate in management of Regional Cancer Centres, Conducting Cancer Research and Clinical Trial and establishing the National Cancer Research & Reference Centre.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -
- Collecting information on cancer prevention and control interventions;
- Maintaining records on cancer prevention and control interventions to inform planning;
- Supporting the dissemination of appropriate information to all institutions, organizations and communities concerned with cancer prevention interventions;
- Compiling and documenting authentic, correct and updated information on cancer prevention and control for public education and awareness creation;
- Supporting in planning, organize and coordinating cancer screening activities;
- Participating in monitor cancer screening activities; and
- Planning appropriate vaccination campaigns for prevention of cancers.
- Perform all other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Public Health, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Health Systems Management, Biochemistry, Health Records and Information Management, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Statistics or relevant Social Science qualification from a recognized Institution; and
- Proficiency in computer applications.
