Business Planning and Market Development Analyst

Role Overview

This position sits within the OPS Africa team and acts as the central coordination point for turning raw inputs from regional commercial teams and support functions into polished, decision-ready materials for leadership. You will spend your time building plans, tracking market and competitor movements, preparing performance reports, and using automation and analytics tools to reduce repetitive work and speed up the delivery of actionable insights. Your work directly shapes how the leadership team allocates attention and resources across the African markets they serve.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and manage submissions for leadership meetings, quarterly risk reviews, and recurring performance forums, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all inputs.
• Lead the preparation of receivables aging reviews alongside account managers, flagging overdue balances and helping identify follow-up actions.
• Own the annual Net Promoter Score survey cycle, from distribution and data collection to analysis and presentation of results to stakeholders.
• Track sales performance at both individual and regional levels, producing weekly activity summaries that highlight progress and outliers.
• Build and maintain detailed models covering industry size, competitor positioning, customer segments, growth forecasts, and broader market forces across the regions where OPS Africa operates.
• Analyse economic, political, regulatory, and social trends that could affect the business, and translate those findings into concise reports, presentations, and recommendations for both strategic and tactical decisions.
• Curate an up-to-date library of credible data sources, assess their usefulness for ongoing work, and incorporate the best ones into market and competitor monitoring.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to understand emerging needs, and support colleagues in improving how they apply market intelligence to their own planning and decision-making.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A degree in business, statistics, economics, finance, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 4 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 2 years in the payments industry, preferably with exposure to African markets.
• Solid command of payments fundamentals, data collection and analysis, and core strategy frameworks.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, with the willingness and aptitude to move toward expert-level usage.
• A demonstrated history of improving processes and turning industry data into meaningful insights for decision-makers.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English; Arabic or French fluency is a significant advantage.
• Ability to work across a matrix structure, coordinating multiple teams and managing a complex agenda of tasks without losing focus on deadlines.
• Comfort handling large volumes of information, extracting what matters, and making data-driven recommendations.
• High level of independent judgment, with the discretion to manage confidential and sensitive material.
• Proven strategic thinking and problem-solving capability, plus the flexibility to switch between big-picture analysis and hands-on execution.
• A proactive approach to change and continuous improvement, adapting processes as the business grows.
