Role Overview
This role focuses on expanding a microfinance loan portfolio by identifying new prospects and guiding them from first contact through repayment. Day to day, you will review financial data, meet applicants and partners, and push to hit weekly lending targets while keeping risk low and client relationships strong.
Key Responsibilities
- Source new borrowers through proactive outreach, referrals, and networking so that weekly loan volume and value targets are consistently achieved.
- Nurture relationships with business partners, vendors, and existing clients to encourage repeat business and generate new leads.
- Carry out loan appraisals by examining applicants' financial status, credit profiles, and collateral to determine whether a loan is viable.
- Recommend and structure loan approvals that align with institutional policy while meeting client needs.
- Develop and implement marketing plans that raise awareness of the company’s products and attract qualified applicants.
- Drive timely repayments by monitoring accounts, following up on overdue payments, and coordinating recovery efforts when needed.
- Prepare financial projections that track growth and profitability for the loan book and support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor microfinance and economic trends, then suggest practical adjustments to lending practices or product offerings.
- Maintain accurate credit files, updating records promptly and securely at every stage of the loan lifecycle.
- Coordinate with external service providers such as valuers, lawyers, and insurers to ensure smooth processing and documentation.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in business administration, finance, commerce, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to settle on terms that serve both the borrower and the institution.
- Sound judgement when handling sensitive information, with a demonstrated respect for confidentiality and discretion.
- High levels of integrity, dependability, and accountability in all transactions and reporting.
- Excellent oral communication skills, including the confidence to present clearly, engage warmly, and ensure your message is readily understood.
- Ability to build productive working relationships across multiple functions, teams, and external organizations.
- Results-oriented mindset with the discipline to manage targets, timelines, and a varied daily workload.
