Role Overview
Reporting to the Business Acquisition Specialist, this position is responsible for growing new Group Life and pension scheme business across broker, agency, direct and affinity channels. The role combines technical insurance support with hands-on relationship management, helping distribution partners turn enquiries into well-priced, properly documented schemes. It matters because the employer needs a steady pipeline of new business while keeping existing scheme service, retention and revenue collection on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Pursue new Group Life and pension scheme opportunities through brokers, agents, tied and independent agencies, affinity partners and direct clients.
- Provide technical product and scheme support to distribution channels, helping them prepare quotes, tender documents and client presentations.
- Guide new business onboarding so documentation is complete, accurate and aligned with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Apply credit control policy across Group Life schemes to support timely revenue collection and protect the scheme portfolio.
- Review group risk contracts and treaties, recommend amendments or endorsements, and assess how treaty changes affect the business.
- Gather market intelligence and competitor pricing, issue competitive quotes and follow prospects through to closure.
- Deliver member education and product training to intermediaries, prospects and existing clients, and help organise reward and bonding sessions.
- Build effective internal and external stakeholder relationships, share accurate management information, and drive cross-selling and organic growth within the existing Group Life portfolio.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance, actuarial science, business or a related field; an insurance option is preferred.
- Professional insurance qualification such as ACII or AIIK.
- At least 2 years’ experience in life insurance or a comparable role in a reputable organisation.
- In-depth understanding of insurance operations, concepts and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of business acquisition processes, underwriting and claims procedures.
- Strong customer service skills and a track record of delivering results against customer expectations.
- Ability to adhere to principles and values while managing relationships across distribution channels.
- Capable of supporting tender preparation and working with intermediaries, prospects and existing clients.
