Role Overview
This role keeps a busy restaurant running smoothly by overseeing every aspect of the dining room and cashier stations. Day to day, you’ll spend most of your shift on the floor—coaching team members, handling guest concerns in the moment, and making sure food quality, service speed, and hygiene standards never slip. Your leadership directly shapes the guest experience and helps the branch hit its sales and service targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Walk the dining area continuously to supervise service staff, respond to guest feedback, and resolve complaints about food quality or service before they escalate.
- Enforce proper food preparation, serving, sanitation, and repair procedures so the branch stays compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Organise and supervise regular deep-cleaning shifts to keep the facility and equipment in top condition.
- Adhere strictly to cash-handling policies including accurate billing, change given, and reconciliation at the end of each shift.
- Ensure takeaway orders are taken correctly, dispensed promptly, and that delivery orders are packed and handed off on time.
- Sample food and drink items regularly through store audits to confirm taste, presentation, and portion consistency.
- Coach team members on suggestive selling to introduce new menu items and boost average ticket value.
- Oversee the proper display of cutlery, napkins, and serviceware at each station, making sure they are always polished and fully stocked.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Food & Beverage service (or an equivalent recognised qualification).
- At least two years of front-of-house operations experience, ideally as a stand-in manager or management trainee in a restaurant or food service setting.
- Proven ability to read and review a profit-and-loss statement (P&L).
- Comfortable handling cash and operating a point-of-sale system accurately under busy conditions.
- Strong command of spoken English to communicate clearly with guests and staff.
- Competent in MS Office (Word, Excel) and able to manage people using basic performance-tracking tools.
- Demonstrated calm under pressure, sound decision-making, and a self-driven, results-oriented work style.
- Core competencies include establishing focus, motivating a team, empowering others, fostering collaboration, and managing performance through interpersonal relationships.
