Role Overview
You will be part of the food and beverage service team, ensuring guests receive prompt, courteous and professional service in the bar and restaurant areas. Your day-to-day focus will be on preparing and serving beverages, maintaining cleanliness and organisation at the service station, and supporting the team during busy service periods. Your reliability and attention to detail directly contribute to a smooth operation and a positive guest experience, whether the venue is a hotel outlet, lounge or standalone hospitality setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly, take food and beverage orders accurately, and serve items in line with established service standards.
- Prepare and mix alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes, portion controls and presentation guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area, service counters, glassware and equipment throughout the shift.
- Monitor stock levels of beverages and bar supplies; assist with receiving deliveries, rotating stock and conducting periodic stock takes.
- Process customer payments through the POS system, handle cash accurately, and ensure all transactions are correctly recorded.
- Support the team during peak periods, including setting up before service and breaking down and cleaning after service.
- Report any maintenance, hygiene or safety issues promptly to the supervisor or duty manager.
- Contribute to the preparation of basic sales or consumption reports as requested by management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Hold a Certificate or Diploma in Food & Beverage Service, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Have at least 1-2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality establishment.
- Possess practical knowledge of bar operations, drink preparation, stock control, and cash or POS handling.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and clear communication skills when interacting with guests and colleagues.
- Be honest, responsible, and well-organised, with the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Be flexible with rostering and willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by the business.
- Previous involvement in stock taking or the preparation of bar or sales reports will be considered an added advantage.
