Associate I: Risk & Compliance

Role Overview

This contract role supports the Risk and Compliance team with the information, analysis and follow-through needed to manage regulatory and business risks. Day to day, you will help improve AML/KYC records, support risk assessments and monitoring, and contribute to business continuity awareness so teams can identify issues and act on them.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and update client records as part of an AML/CFT data clean-up, helping maintain accurate customer due diligence information and a comprehensive PEP register.
• Gather and organise information for compliance risk assessments and help define the areas of the business covered by the compliance programme.
• Work with business units to share guidance on AML/KYC policy requirements and address emerging compliance questions.
• Contribute to the annual AML/CFT assessment of financial crime risks and help reflect its findings in relevant policies and requirements.
• Monitor compliance risks associated with business activities, new products and projects; analyse findings and prepare reports for review.
• Support employee and management training on AML, data protection and business continuity.
• Assist with risk assessments across departments and business functions, and monitor whether management controls are addressing identified risks.
• Maintain risk registers, track mitigation actions and support the review of risk and control measures for products.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Law or a related business field.
• At least one year of experience in risk, compliance or audit.
• Working knowledge of Kenya’s regulatory environment, including the Insurance Act, CMA Act and RBA Act.
• Understanding of money laundering risks and customer due diligence and KYC requirements.
• Familiarity with insurance operations and business functions.
• Strong organisation, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to support work across multiple teams.
• High integrity and sound professional judgement.
