Area Sales Representative

The Area sales representative (ASR) is the frontline driver of the company’s commercial goals. This role is responsible for ensuring maximum product availability and visibility at the retail level. The ASR acts as the primary link between the company and hardware stores, dealers, and key construction site stakeholders, including masons and site foremen focusing on achieving volume targets and expanding the retail footprint through consistent field activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Target Achievement; Deliver monthly and quarterly cement tonnage and revenue targets across the territory, driving both primary distributor sales and secondary retail sell-through to maintain consistent volume and channel balance.
- Distributor Management; Monitor distributor stock levels, order frequency, and off-take patterns to prevent stock-outs and overstocking; support distributors in planning and maintaining adequate supply to serve downstream demand.
- Retail & Sub-Dealer Expansion; Identify, onboard, and grow hardware retailers and sub-dealers to increase numeric distribution; ensure active partners are consistently ordering and positioning Savannah Cement as their priority brand.
- Beat Plan Execution; Execute a structured daily call cycle across all assigned outlets conducting stock checks, taking orders, and ensuring no account lapses into inactivity or shifts preference to a competitor.
- On Site Engagement; Conduct Mason Meets, site visits, and contractor engagements to build brand preference among masons, foremen, and contractors who directly influence cement purchasing decisions on active construction sites.
- In-Store Visibility & Merchandising; Deploy and maintain branded POS materials posters, banners, and displays at all key outlets to ensure Savannah Cement is a visible brand at retail.
- SFA Data Capture & Reporting Discipline; Record all outlet visits, orders, stock observations, and field activity in the Sales Force Automation system in real time to support accurate territory tracking and management decisions.
- Market & Competitor Intelligence; Report weekly on competitor pricing, promotions, and distributor activity; identify upcoming construction projects and infrastructure developments as forward-looking commercial opportunities.
- Collections & Dispute Resolution; Follow up on overdue retail accounts and serve as the first point of contact for supply complaints or billing issues and ensure timely resolution
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years of field sales experience, ideally in Cement, Building Materials, Paints, or FMCG.
