Area Depot Product and Operations Manager

Role Overview

The Area Depot Product and Operations Manager leads depot performance across an assigned area, balancing safe, compliant operations with service quality, efficient use of capacity and strong financial results. The role is accountable for the depot contribution to the Area P&L and turns business targets and performance data into practical action across sites and functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Area depot P&L performance against agreed targets and accountabilities, addressing revenue, cost and profitability variances.
• Set operational priorities across the depot network and coordinate delivery with Area leadership, sales and site teams.
• Promote safe, compliant site practices and follow up on operational risks and performance gaps.
• Improve depot utilisation, yard flow, resource allocation and productivity while protecting service quality.
• Review KPI and Bowler chart results, identify underlying issues and agree corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
• Lead or support transformation work that strengthens operating effectiveness and delivers lasting improvements.
• Represent depot product and operational needs in Area leadership discussions, aligning plans with Procurement, Technology, Finance and cost teams.
• Track commercial and financial indicators, including volumes, pricing, win rate, Net Revenue, Variable Cost, Gross Profit, operating expenses, shared costs, EBIT, depreciation, CAPEX and leases.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience in depot, terminal, logistics, shipping or a closely related operational environment.
• Demonstrated responsibility for P&L or financial performance, with the ability to convert targets into operational plans.
• Working knowledge of site safety and compliance, depot utilisation, yard flow and productivity management.
• Strong financial and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret performance measures and prioritise improvement actions.
• Experience leading change or transformation and embedding improvements into day-to-day operations.
• Confident stakeholder management and influencing skills in cross-functional or matrix environments.
• Leadership ability to bring teams together around safety, service, operational and financial goals.
