Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits at the center of our client’s manufacturing IT operations in Mlolongo, ensuring that enterprise applications—especially the ERP backbone—run reliably every single day. You will spend your time maintaining application health, resolving user issues, and writing scripts to move data and automate reporting across production, inventory, and supply chain functions. By keeping software responsive and integrated, you directly help the plant avoid downtime and make faster, more accurate operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and update enterprise applications and manufacturing ERP platforms, ensuring correct versions and stable operation across the organization.
  • Monitor application availability and response times, proactively addressing slowdowns or failures before they disrupt production workflows.
  • Troubleshoot user-reported technical issues in a ticketing system, resolving problems promptly and coordinating with external vendors for escalated bugs.
  • Manage user access permissions, enforce application security policies, and maintain accurate software license records.
  • Develop Python scripts and SQL queries to automate recurring reports, extract data for analysis, and streamline data flows between systems.
  • Support integrations that connect the ERP to operational databases and shop-floor technologies, testing and validating these connections after changes.
  • Execute change management procedures by testing patches and software updates in controlled environments before deploying them to live systems.
  • Track application performance indicators, compile usage reports for management, and document system configurations, integration mappings, and resolution steps for future reference.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience managing software applications within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting major ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent enterprise platforms, including configuration and daily administration.
  • Proficiency in SQL for database querying and Python for scripting automation, data extraction, and integration tasks.
  • Strong working knowledge of core manufacturing operations, including inventory control, production planning, and supply chain processes.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills to diagnose system bottlenecks, trace data issues, and optimize application workflows.
  • Clear communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical teams such as production, finance, and procurement.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or equivalent cloud/system administration certifications are considered a strong advantage.
