Role Overview
This Accountant position sits within a well-regarded aesthetics and wellness healthcare provider based in Muthaiga, Nairobi, where the finance function directly supports clinical and operational growth. You will be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the organisation’s financial records, from posting everyday transactions to preparing management reports and safeguarding internal controls. Your work will give clinic leadership the visibility they need to make sound decisions on pricing, expenditure, and cash-flow priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Post, verify, and maintain all accounting entries, ensuring revenue from consultations, treatments, and product sales is captured correctly in the ledger.
- Reconcile debtor and supplier accounts on a regular basis, investigating outstanding balances and escalating overdue collections as needed.
- Perform daily bank, cash, and till reconciliations to confirm that recorded activity matches actual funds flowing through the business.
- Prepare accurate invoices, official receipts, credit notes, and payment instructions in compliance with the provider’s documentation standards.
- Support monthly payroll processing by compiling attendance, statutory deductions, and net-pay summaries alongside the relevant HR records.
- Draft periodic management reports covering income, expenditure, receivables, and cash position, using clear variance commentary for non-finance managers.
- Maintain well-organised financial files and supporting evidence for every transaction, ready for audit or internal review.
- Track the annual budget and ongoing cash-flow projections, highlighting potential shortfalls or overspend before they become urgent issues.
- Apply and continuously improve financial controls, including segregation of duties and approval thresholds, while assisting with statutory obligations such as tax filings and pension remittances.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related business discipline.
- A CPA qualification or progressive progress in CPA examinations is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on accounting experience gained within an SME, professional services firm, healthcare setting, or other service-oriented environment.
- Solid grasp of accounting principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and internal control concepts.
- Advanced practical skills in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to build pivot tables, lookup formulas, and reconciliations that management can easily follow.
- Experience operating accounting software or enterprise resource planning tools commonly used by growing businesses in Kenya.
- Scrupulous attention to numerical detail, with a track record of producing error-free records under regular deadlines.
- Discretion in handling confidential pay, commercial, and patient-related financial information.
- Clear communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to present financial issues to non-finance colleagues.
