Project Supervisor
- Direct Line Reporting: Factory Production Manager
- Industry Sector: Garment Manufacturing
- Gross Salary Structure: Kshs. 20,000
- Location: Ruaraka
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly structured, quality-focused Project Supervisor to oversee our garment manufacturing floor and coordinate our specialized assembly teams. Your primary focus is to drive production efficiency by managing the day-to-day balance between high-volume school uniform orders and intricate fashion sweater lines. This position bridges meticulous technical textile inspection with active floor leadership; you will orchestrate daily sewing schedules, enforce strict measurement tolerances, and eliminate bottlenecking across the cutting, stitching, and finishing bays. The role requires an organized manufacturing professional who understands fabric properties and knitwear construction, ensuring delivery deadlines are met without compromising structural design specifications.
Areas of Accountability
Production Planning & Workflow Synchronization
- Formulate, update, and monitor daily and weekly garment production schedules to guarantee on-time delivery of client orders.
- Delegate sewing operators, machinery configurations, and textile raw materials efficiently across the floor to maximize machine utilization.
- Synchronize operations between the cutting, assembly, pressing, and packaging departments to prevent floor backlogs.
- Adjust line structures dynamically to balance the unique demands of bulk institutional orders against seasonal fashion production runs.
Garment Quality Control & Line Inspection
- Deploy and enforce strict quality assurance protocols across all active school uniform and fashion sweater lines.
- Conduct regular in-line inspections at multiple construction phases, checking seam strength, stitching alignment, and measurement charts.
- Isolate textile defects, identify mechanical machine errors early, and implement decisive corrective alterations to minimize fabric waste.
- Maintain complete compliance with design sheets, ensuring accessories, embroidery, and finishes match approved client samples.
Line Management & Division Balancing
- Direct the operational output of both the heavy-duty uniform tailoring line and the specialized fashion knitwear/sweater line.
- Monitor machine performance for knitting and sewing units, coordinating with technical mechanics for routine maintenance.
- Establish clear differentiation protocols on the floor to preserve product integrity when shifting between bulk utility fabrics and delicate knit yarns.
Team Leadership & Performance Tracking
- Supervise floor operators, tailors, and checkers, assigning precise daily assembly quotas and tracking individual output rates.
- Deliver continuous on-the-job training and mentoring to improve operator efficiency, needle handling, and safety habits.
- Compile and present detailed daily production logs, defect rate trends, and overall floor efficiency summaries for executive evaluation.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum Entry Criteria
- Academic Foundation: Diploma in Textile Engineering, Fashion Design, Production Management, or a matching technical apparel track.
- Manufacturing Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive floor experience explicitly within a knitwear facility or high-volume commercial garment manufacturing environment.
- Line Specialty: Proven track record of directly supervising dual production models, with verifiable knowledge covering both structured school uniform assembly and fashion sweater production.
- Technical Domain Acuity: Solid operational understanding of apparel assembly methodologies, marker making, and garment tailoring techniques.
Core Capabilities
- Floor Leadership: Strong interpersonal skills with the capability to manage, motivate, and maintain discipline among large groups of manual machine operators.
- Multitasking Acumen: Exceptional organizational ability to handle multiple custom production batches simultaneously under tight client delivery windows.
- Analytical Diagnostics: Sharp problem-solving capacity to trace assembly errors to specific floor bottlenecks and execute logical fixes.
Why Us
- Operational Versatility: Diversify your technical expertise by supervising both structured institutional tailoring and creative commercial knitwear portfolios.
- Process Leadership: Gain absolute autonomy over active manufacturing lines with the power to design fast, high-output workflow models.
- Career Evolution: Build a strong professional record within a reliable, fundamentally expanding sector of the local textile and manufacturing industry.
