Job Title: Legal Officer (Advocate)
Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Advocate to join our legal team. The successful candidate will represent the organization in superior courts, handle litigation matters, and ensure compliance with the law. This role requires strong advocacy skills, a thorough understanding of the Kenyan legal system, and a commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Appear before superior courts to represent clients in civil and criminal litigation.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, and opinions.
- Provide legal advice on a wide range of issues to internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in legislation and case law.
- Manage case files and ensure timely compliance with court procedures.
- Collaborate with other legal professionals and departments to achieve organizational goals.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
- Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a proven work experience of three (3) years, within which he/she has appeared before superior courts representing clients in litigation.
- A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university in Kenya.
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Council of Legal Education.
- Been an active member of the Law Society of Kenya for the last five (5) years from the date of admission to the roll as an Advocate.
- Possession of a current Practicing Certificate as an Advocate.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
