Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Provide academic and research leadership within the Department, School, and University;
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students;
- Develop, review, and evaluate academic programmes;
- Supervise Master’s and PhD research projects and theses;
- Lead curriculum development, quality assurance, and accreditation initiatives;
- Conduct and publish high-quality research in reputable peer-reviewed journals;
- Mentor faculty members and postgraduate students;
- Prepare, administer, moderate, and mark examinations;
- Participate in strategic planning and policy formulation;
- Represent the University in academic, professional, church, and community engagements;
- Mobilize resources and support research, consultancy, and grant-funded initiatives;
- Participate in academic administration and institutional governance;
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- An earned PhD in the relevant field from a recognized university:
- PhD in Old Testament Studies;
- PhD in Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, or related field;
- PhD in Religious Studies or related discipline.
- A Master’s degree with a minimum average score of B+ or equivalent in the relevant field from an accredited institution;
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or a minimum GPA of 3.0 from a recognized university;
- KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent qualification;
- Minimum of twelve (12) years of university teaching, research, and academic leadership experience, including at least three (3) years at the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent;
- Distinguished record of scholarly publications and recognized contributions in the relevant field;
- Successful supervision of Master’s and PhD students to completion;
- Evidence of successful acquisition, management, and implementation of research, consultancy, or development grants from recognized funding agencies;
- Meets the University requirements for appointment and promotion to the rank of Professor;
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body where applicable;
- Ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church;
- Active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing;
- Demonstrated commitment to Adventist philosophy of education, mission, and values;
- Ability to integrate faith and learning in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and values of Seventh-day Adventist higher education;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, E-Learning platforms, Internet applications, and relevant statistical software.
