Job Overview:
A construction company in Murang’a (Kahuro) is seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead road construction projects from initiation to completion. The role involves planning, supervising technical activities, managing resources, coordinating teams, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution

Plan, organize, and oversee road construction projects from start to finish

Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets

Monitor progress and implement corrective actions to meet milestones
Technical Oversight
-
Supervise site activities to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and approved designs
-
Review technical drawings, plans, and construction methodologies
-
Provide technical guidance to engineers and site supervisors
-
Ensure adherence to quality standards, regulations, and industry best practices
Operations & Resource Management

Allocate and manage labor, machinery, and materials effectively
-
Monitor equipment usage and optimize deployment across projects

Oversee procurement and ensure timely material availability
-
Control project costs and maintain financial discipline within budget
Team Coordination & Leadership

Lead and supervise engineers, foremen, technicians, and contractors
-
Coordinate operations across procurement, finance, and logistics teams
-
Foster strong teamwork and communication internally and with external partners
-
Mentor and guide junior staff
Stakeholder & Contractor Management

Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and government authorities
-
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations
-
Manage subcontractors to meet project standards and timelines
Reporting & Documentation

Prepare project reports on progress, challenges, risks, and finances

Maintain proper documentation including contracts, permits, and compliance records
-
Update senior management on project status and key decisions
Health, Safety & Compliance

Enforce occupational health and safety standards on project sites

Implement and monitor safety procedures

Identify and mitigate potential construction risks and hazards
Key Requirements:

Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
-
Additional Project Management certifications are an advantage
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience in road construction project management
-
Proven ability to manage projects from planning to completion
-
Strong knowledge of road works, earthworks, drainage, grading, and asphalt operations
-
Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and contractors
