Job Description

Job Overview:
A construction company in Murang’a is looking for a skilled Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and heavy construction equipment, ensuring machines operate efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance

  • Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance on trucks and heavy equipment

  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out necessary repairs

  • Conduct inspections to detect wear, damage, or malfunction

  • Ensure all vehicles and machinery are in good working condition

Repairs & Troubleshooting

  • Repair engines, braking, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical systems

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues in trucks and heavy machinery

  • Replace faulty parts and components as required

Equipment Management

  • Maintain construction machinery including excavators, graders, rollers, and other roadwork equipment

  • Ensure servicing is done according to manufacturer schedules

  • Minimize equipment downtime through timely repairs

Workshop Operations

  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment

  • Keep records of repairs, maintenance activities, and spare parts used

  • Support inventory tracking of spare parts and tools

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow workshop safety procedures and company policies

  • Ensure safe handling and operation of tools, equipment, and machinery

  • Report major equipment faults or safety concerns to management

Key Requirements:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with trucks and heavy construction equipment

  • Experience with trucks such as Tata, FAW, and Isuzu

  • Experience repairing excavators, graders, rollers, and other construction machinery

  • Prior experience in construction or road works environments preferred
