Job Description

Job Overview

Our client is an FMCG business based in Kiambu looking for a hands-on, operationally sharp Warehouse and Depot Manager to take full ownership of their depot function. This is not a desk role. They need someone who is on the floor, knows exactly what is moving in and out of the warehouse at any given time, and has the leadership presence to keep a team performing consistently under pressure. If you have built your career in FMCG depot operations, understand the discipline that stock reconciliation and distribution management demands, and know how to run a tight, efficient warehouse without being told twice, our client is ready to meet you.

Key Responsibilities

Depot Operations Management

  • Oversee all day-to-day warehouse and depot activities including receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods across all product lines
  • Ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and full compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements at all times
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and operationally efficient depot environment that supports seamless daily throughput

Inventory Control & Stock Reconciliation

  • Monitor stock levels continuously and conduct regular, accurate stock counts to maintain inventory integrity
  • Implement practical strategies to minimize stock discrepancies, shrinkage, and wastage across the depot
  • Manage stock rotation protocols diligently to prevent expired, damaged, or obsolete inventory from entering the distribution chain

Distribution & Logistics

  • Coordinate closely with transport teams to ensure all goods are dispatched and delivered on time and in full
  • Plan and continuously optimize delivery routes to improve distribution efficiency and reduce operational costs
  • Monitor delivery performance metrics and resolve logistical challenges promptly to avoid service disruptions

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Lead, train, and motivate the warehouse team to deliver high productivity, accountability, and operational discipline on a daily basis
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and recommend appropriate training interventions or corrective actions where necessary
  • Foster a team culture that takes pride in accuracy, efficiency, and doing the job right the first time

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all stock movements, inventory reports, and key operational metrics
  • Prepare and present clear, insightful depot performance reports to senior management on a regular basis
  • Ensure all documentation related to receipts, dispatches, and stock reconciliations is complete, organized, and audit-ready

Continuous Improvement

  • Proactively identify operational inefficiencies across the depot and propose practical, implementable process improvements
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives within the warehouse and distribution function without compromising on service quality or delivery standards
  • Stay current on best practices in FMCG warehouse management and bring relevant ideas back into the operation

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field
  • Professional certification in Supply Chain such as CIPS is a strong added advantage
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in an FMCG environment with a specific focus on depot operations and distribution management
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in inventory control, stock reconciliation, and driving operational efficiency in a high-volume setting
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities with the ability to hold a team accountable while keeping morale high
  • Commercially aware with the ability to balance operational excellence against cost management
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to make quick, sound decisions when operational challenges arise

What's In It For You

  • Competitive salary ranging from Kshs. 35,000 - 40,000 depending on experience
  • A leadership role with genuine operational ownership and direct impact on business performance
  • The opportunity to build and optimize a depot function within a growing FMCG operation in Kiambu
  • A business that values operational discipline, efficiency, and managers who lead from the front
