Job Overview
Our client is an agribusiness and supply chain company based in Kikuyu looking for a seasoned General Manager to take full ownership of their operations. This is a senior leadership role that goes beyond managing departments. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the overall operational strategy in alignment with the company's goals and long-term objectives
- Identify growth opportunities within the agribusiness and supply chain sectors and advise the executive team on viable expansion strategies
- Lead the management team to ensure full departmental alignment with operational priorities and business direction
Operations & Supply Chain Management
- Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations spanning sourcing, procurement, production, logistics, and last-mile distribution
- Implement systems to continuously track, measure, and optimize operational efficiency across all functions
- Drive cost-effective operations without compromising on quality, compliance, or supplier relationships
- Develop and enforce operational policies, procedures, and best practices across the business
Farmer & Rural Engagement
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with farmers, cooperatives, and rural suppliers across the supply network
- Champion capacity building initiatives designed to improve farmer productivity, output quality, and supply consistency
- Ensure seamless communication and coordination between rural suppliers and the central supply chain team
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and coach department heads and operational staff toward consistent high performance
- Foster a workplace culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and a drive for continuous improvement
- Identify talent and skills gaps across teams and implement targeted training and development programs
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Define and own KPIs across all operational areas and hold teams accountable to regular progress reviews
- Analyze operational data to pinpoint bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for corrective action
- Prepare and present clear, insight-driven operational reports to the executive team and key stakeholders
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure strict compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal company policies
- Proactively identify operational risks and put mitigation strategies in place before they become business problems
- Maintain health, safety, and environmental standards consistently across all operations
Innovation & Process Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across operational processes to drive efficiency and reduce waste
- Introduce appropriate technologies, tools, and systems that meaningfully enhance supply chain performance
- Champion innovative solutions that create tangible value for both the business and its rural supplier network
Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in senior management roles within agribusiness, FMCG, or supply chain industries
- Proven, hands-on experience working directly with farmers and rural supply chains in the Kenyan context
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and manage operational systems and processes at scale
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire, align, and hold teams accountable
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels of an organization
- Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable making data-driven decisions on the ground
