Description: The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme (‘The Fund”) was established by a Trust Deed dated 1 January 1970. The Fund is a defined benefit occupational pension fund and was formed for the employees of The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited (‘the Sponsor’), then known as East Africa Power and Lighting Company Limited. The Fund is governed by Trust Deed and Rules which have been approved by the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA). The main purpose of the Fund is the provision of cash benefits and pensions to the members upon attainment of the retirement age of sixty years, and where applicable, benefits for dependents of deceased members. The Fund is among the largest Pension Funds in Kenya and is mature. The number of active members above the age of 50 years, pensioners and deferred pensioners is much greater than the number of younger active members. Responsible for providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and contributing to the over-all efficiency and security of computer systems and networks.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification: Bachelors Degree

Experience: 4 year(s)

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and servers.
  • Conduct training sessions for end-users on new systems, applications, or security best practices
  • Assist in ensuring that IT systems and processes comply with relevant regulations and industry stand
  • Explore and implement automation tools and scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and enhance efficiency.
  • Assist in collection and documentation of user requirements for systems and equipment
  • Handling of the ICT helpdesk system to ensure all tickets are handled and closed within set timeline
  • Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software issues.
  • Support the organization's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Provide support in ICT security measures, such as firewalls and antivirus programs
  • Assist in monitoring systems for security breaches and take appropriate actions to address vulnerabi
  • Support data backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability
  • Assist in create user guides and manuals for common technical issues

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelors Degree or an equivalent in bachelor of science (computer science) from accredited and recognized institution.
  • 4 years of relevant experience as an supervisor in information technology industry
  • A minimum of four (4) years gained work experience from reputable organisation
  • Professional qualification e.g. Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, or equivalent may be beneficial.
  • Interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, including ability to build collaborative relationships with sensitivity to diversity/inclusion.
  • Creativity and innovation skills.
  • Action oriented and demonstrated ability to manage priorities
  • Quality focus and attention to detail.
  • Professionalism and integrity in line with Kenya Power Pension Fund values.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Critical and analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Personal motivation and drive are exhibited through commitment to hard work, continuous improvement and achievement of goals.
  • Experience in use of software and ERP systems.
  • Good customer relationship management skills (internal and external customers).

  • Should be a member of Information Communication Technology Association of Kenya (ICTAK)
