Job Description

Marketing Manager (FMCG)

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Industry: FMCG

Salary: Kshs. 180,000 - Kshs. 200,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative marketing strategies to drive brand growth and market share within the FMCG sector.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify new market opportunities and consumer trends.
  • Manage and coordinate marketing campaigns, including digital marketing, advertising, and promotional activities.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to align marketing strategies with sales objectives and drive revenue growth.
  • Oversee the development of marketing materials, including brochures, press releases, and website content.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, distributors, and media partners.

Strategic Planning & Brand Management

  • Develop, implement, and oversee integrated marketing plans aligned with the company’s business objectives.
  • Drive brand positioning and ensure consistent messaging across all marketing channels.
  • Lead product portfolio strategy, ensuring alignment with consumer needs and market trends.
  • Manage the brand budget to ensure optimal ROI on marketing initiatives.

Market Research & Consumer Insights

  • Conduct regular market research to identify trends, consumer preferences, and competitive dynamics.
  • Analyze sales data, market share, and consumer behavior to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Translate research insights into actionable marketing strategies that strengthen brand performance.

Product Development & Go-to-Market Execution

  • Lead go-to-market (GTM) strategies for new product launches, from concept development to commercialization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, R&D, sales, and finance) to ensure successful product rollouts.
  • Oversee packaging design, pricing strategies, and promotional campaigns for new and existing products.
  • Monitor and evaluate product performance post-launch and implement corrective actions as needed.

Advertising, Promotions & Digital Marketing

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns across digital, traditional, and in-store platforms.
  • Manage media planning and buying to ensure effective reach and engagement.
  • Oversee the creation of promotional materials and marketing collateral.
  • Strengthen the company’s online presence through social media and digital marketing strategies.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the marketing team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners (agencies, suppliers, distributors).
  • Champion innovation and creativity within the marketing function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 10 years proven experience in FMCG marketing, with a track record of successful marketing campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of market research and data analysis techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms.
  • Proven track record in brand building, product marketing, and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and launching new products in competitive markets.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and convert insights into strategy.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
