Job Description

Overall Purpose of the Job

  • To support field operations of the RMRN-EA through technical backstopping of agroecological innovations being tested in the living labs.

Specific duties

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Lead the technical backstopping and capacity building to national partners, extension officers, and model farmers on innovations under validation in the living labs.
  • Manage field equipment and resources.
  • Undertake bioassays in laboratory, screenhouse, and under field conditions as assigned by supervisor.
  • Lead the team rearing pests and parasitoids for experiments and field release.
  • Collate field data remitted by partners via the ODK platform.
  • Undertake exploratory data analyses, data visualisation, and drafting reports.
  • Draft manuscripts and support science communication.
  • Spearhead dissemination activities through planning and execution of exhibitions during stakeholder engagement events, including field days and agricultural.
  • Perform any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor(s)

Requirements/ qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in a relevant field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in facilitating field operations.
  • Experience in rearing and field release of insects.
  • Experience in multi-stakeholder engagements across countries, in a research for development environment.
  • Experience in drafting reports and manuscripts.
  • Ability to manage field equipment and resources.
