Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • The Orthopedic / Prosthetic Technologist will be responsible for assessing patients, designing, fabricating, and fitting orthopedic and prosthetic devices based on physician prescriptions. The role ensures that patients receive high-quality, functional, and comfortable devices while being instructed on their safe use and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and interview patients to determine their prosthetic or orthotic needs.
  • Take measurements or impressions of the affected body part to ensure proper fitting.
  • Design and fabricate orthopedic and prosthetic devices in line with physicians’ prescriptions.
  • Select appropriate materials for the fabrication of devices.
  • Fit and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices to ensure comfort and functionality.
  • Provide patients with instructions on use, care, and maintenance of devices.
  • Repair or replace devices as required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and device records.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Orthopaedic Technology, Prosthetics, or related field from a recognized institution.
  • At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in orthotics and prosthetics practice.
  • Strong technical and fabrication skills with knowledge of materials and tools used in orthotics and prosthetics.
  • Excellent patient care, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • High standards of integrity, confidentiality, and commitment to patient well-being.
  • A committed Christian with values aligned to Tenwek Hospital’s mission.
