Overall Responsibility
To promote oral health, prevent and manage common dental conditions, and provide clinical and community-based oral health services in line with professional standards and institutional policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct oral examinations, diagnose common dental conditions, and provide appropriate treatment.
Perform basic dental procedures such as extractions, fillings, scaling, and prophylaxis.
Provide emergency dental care and pain management.
Refer complex dental and oral health cases to the Dental Officer or higher-level facilities.
Conduct oral health education sessions for individuals, groups, and communities.
Promote preventive practices such as oral hygiene, fluoride use, and dietary advice.
Organize and participate in community oral health outreach programs.
Maintain accurate patient treatment records and registers.
Collect and analyze data on oral health indicators for reporting and decision-making.
Adhere to ethical and professional standards as set by relevant licensing authorities.
Ensure proper infection prevention and control practices within the dental unit.
Participate in continuous professional development and institutional training.
Job Qualifications & Skills
Diploma in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution.
Valid registration and practicing license with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
At least 1 year of experience in a hospital or community health setting.
Knowledge of oral health education, preventive dentistry, and minor dental procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
