We are seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement Manager to lead the procurement function at Hydro box. The role will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies, managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost efficiency and compliance across procurement processes. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who can oversee a procurement team, align procurement strategies with organizational goals, and support uninterrupted project delivery in both urban and rural settings.

 

Key responsibilities

 

Strategic Procurement & Planning

 

Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company objectives and sustainability goals.

 

Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and supplier innovations.

 

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast procurement needs and align with project delivery timelines.

 

Ensure rolling procurement plans are updated and tied to project implementation schedules.

 

Vendor & Contract Management

 

Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors and suppliers locally and internationally.

 

Negotiate favorable contract terms, pricing, and service-level agreements.

 

Oversee vendor performance management, including due diligence, compliance, and sustainability assessments.

 

Maintain an updated, approved supplier list with performance metrics.

 

Procurement Operations & Compliance

 

Oversee the end-to-end procurement process from requisition to delivery.

 

Ensure compliance with procurement policies, funding partner rules, and regulatory requirements.

 

Maintain procurement systems and digital workflows, ensuring complete audit trails and records.

 

Proactively update procurement policies and procedures in line with best practices.

 

Financial Oversight & Reporting

 

Manage procurement budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure cost efficiency.

 

Analyze procurement data and prepare regular spend and variance reports for management review.

 

Support internal and external audits with accurate procurement documentation.

 

Risk Management

 

Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks and escalate material risks to senior leadership.

 

Maintain a procurement risk register and ensure proactive risk management.

 

Team Leadership & Development

 

Lead, mentor, and supervise the procurement team, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.

 

Set KPIs for procurement staff and oversee quarterly performance reviews.

 

Build team capacity through continuous training and development.

 

Requirements

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum of 7 years’ experience in procurement/supply chain roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership position, ideally within the renewable energy or infrastructure sector.

 

Professional certifications (CIPS, CPSP-K) are strongly preferred.

 

Proven experience with procurement systems and ERP platforms.

 

Strong negotiation, contract management, and vendor relationship skills.

 

Knowledge of donor-funded procurement guidelines and sustainable supply chain practices is an added advantage.
