Job Description

To lead the Finance function and steward City Walk's financial health by delivering accurate reporting, robust controls, disciplined cash and working-capital management, tax and regulatory compliance, and actionable insights that improve profitability, protect assets, and support growth. Works closely with: Operations, Sales, Supply Chain/Procurement, HR, Store/Branch Managers, External Auditors, Banks.

Qualifications & Experience (Must-Have)

 

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.

 

Professional certification: CPA-K (preferred) or ACCA; active good standing.

 

Experience: 6-8+ years total, with 3+ years in a finance leadership role (Finance Manager/Controller) - retail,

 

FMCG, or multi-branch environments strongly preferred.

 

Proven track record in budgeting/forecasting, management reporting, cash & working capital management, inventory controls, and tax compliance in Kenya.

 

Hands-on expertise with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).

 

Strong knowledge of IFRS, Kenyan tax laws, and internal controls.

 

Added Advantage (Nice-to-Have)

 

MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification.

 

Data/BI skills (Power BI/Tableau), Power Query/Power Pivot, or basic SQL.

 

Experience rolling out or upgrading ERP/POS and standardizing multi-branch processes.

 

Exposure to e-commerce and payment gateways (reconciling online sales, chargebacks, fees).

 

Analytical Rigor: Turns data into clear insights and prioritized actions; strong variance & root-cause analysis.

 

Leadership & Influence: Coaches teams, challenges peers constructively, and drives cross-functional execution.

 

Integrity & Control Mindset: Zero tolerance for control breaches; meticulous with approvals and documentation.

 

Communication: Crisp storytelling in presentations; can brief the Board and guide store managers with equal clarity.
