Job Description

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with line managers to recommend and implement best practices in employee relations, fostering a positive workplace culture that enhances employee morale and motivation.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of HR programs, procedures, and policies that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Assist in the setting and monitoring of the annual HR budget, promptly flagging any significant deviations to management.
  • Provide guidance and support to line managers in addressing employee relations issues, utilizing HR policies, employment laws, and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) as necessary.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate employee records in both physical and digital formats and ensure timely submission of HR data to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and assist line managers in staff leave scheduling, enforcing proper utilization of approved leave.
  • Contribute to the creation of departmental metrics that support the achievement of departmental and company strategic goals.
  • Lead the implementation of the performance management system by assisting line managers with job descriptions, key performance indicators (KPIs), appraisal tools, and employee development initiatives.
  • Drive Learning & Development initiatives by identifying and consolidating training needs in collaboration with line managers, particularly after annual performance reviews.
  • Prepare and deliver regular HR reports—daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly—to provide insights and updates to the leadership team.

Academic and Professional Qualifications and experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) certification
  • Higher National Diploma/Diploma in Human resources or equivalent from a recognized university is a desirable.
  • At least Six (6) years of experience managing HR processes in a labor-intensive and Unionisable environment in FMCG/Manufacturing sectors
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on work experience in any HRMIS.
  • Technical skills in most if not all aspects of human resource management with a focus on Recruitment and Selection, Learning and Development, Performance Management, Compensation and Benefits, HR Policies, and HR Analytics.
  • Solid expertise in industrial relations management
  • Knowledge and working experience with Kenyan Labor laws.
