You apply, tailor your CV, write cover letters, get hopeful… and then silence. Over and over again. It drains your energy, your confidence, and sometimes even your sense of worth.
The market is overcrowded. Everyone is doing the same thing, chasing the same few opportunities, competing endlessly. Yet somehow, companies still say “we need experience” but refuse to hire fresh graduates.
So the big question is: how exactly are we supposed to get experience?
Will it fall from heaven?
It’s frustrating to see roles labelled “entry-level” demanding 2–5 years of experience. It’s even more painful when older professionals refuse to give younger people a chance to learn on the job maybe out of fear that they’ll be replaced. Instead of mentorship, there’s gatekeeping. Instead of guidance, there’s silence.
And then there’s cheap labour everywhere. People are overworked, underpaid, and still expected to be grateful for the opportunity. It’s tiring. It’s discouraging. It makes you question if effort even matters anymore.
But still giving up is not the answer.
As draining as it is, you must keep going. Keep applying. Keep learning. Keep improving. Your journey may be slower, but it is still valid.
Dear HR professionals and employers: give fresh graduates a chance. Let them prove themselves. Create room for learning. Everyone you admire today once started with no experience. Someone gave them a chance.
We are not asking for handouts just opportunity.
And when the chance finally comes, trust that we’ll show up, learn fast, and give our very best. less
