I work in HR in the UAE, and I see this happen all the time. Good candidates come for interviews but can't speak English well. They get nervous and can't show their real skills.
The funny thing is - many of these people become our best workers later. But we also hire people who speak great English in interviews, then they don't do well at work.
Yes, communication is important for most jobs. But we're in the UAE - people come from everywhere. Just because someone has an accent or takes time to think doesn't mean they're not good at their job.
I think we need to look deeper. Real skills matter more than perfect English in an interview.
When applying for a job via email, don’t just attach your CV with no message, your email is part of your first impression.

If you're new to the UAE and currently exploring job opportunities, here’s a sincere piece of advice based on personal experience living here:
One of the key challenges many newcomers face is that work experience from their home country is often not fully recognized or valued in the local market. In the UAE, local experience and familiarity with the business culture are highly regarded by employers.
You might be wondering: "How can I gain local experience if no one is willing to hire someone new to the country?"
This is the real challenge. To overcome it, you may need to accept roles that are initially below your qualifications or salary expectations. It may not be ideal, but it’s a strategic entry point. Once you gain UAE experience, even in a supporting or junior role, your profile will become significantly more competitive.
Getting involved in the local work environment, understanding the culture, and building a professional network will open doors for better opportunities in the future. Being flexible and persistent during your initial phase is essential.
It’s just a humble tip 😊
Wishing you all the success in your job search journey here in the UAE!

Dear HR, No one is perfect. Stop looking for the perfect candidate. Give them a chance; skills can be taught, but potential is priceless.

A gentle reminder to all job seekers: please take a moment to read the job description before applying.
As someone who goes through hundreds of applications for a single role, I completely understand the urgency and pressure of job hunting. But often, many applications come through that don’t match the requirements at all — and it becomes tough to focus on those who might truly be a great fit.
When you apply without meeting the key criteria, it can unintentionally take time away from reviewing candidates who align with the role — and it may also affect your chances of being noticed for positions you're actually suited for.
Your time is valuable, and so is ours. Let’s help each other by being more mindful when applying.

Here's a gentle but honest reminder:
💡 Getting a job here as a fresher is not easy — especially within the short span of a 2-month visit visa.
✅ Here are some helpful tips for you:
1. Attend Walk-In Interviews
1️⃣ Many companies in the UAE, especially in sales, customer service, admin, hospitality, and retail, still hire through walk-ins.
2️⃣Track listings daily on sites like:
Khaleej Times Jobs
Gulf News Careers
Facebook/Telegram/WhatsApp groups with walk-in alerts - and attend the interview.
2. Apply in Bulk — But Smartly
1️⃣ Apply to 10–20 targeted jobs per day, not random ones.
2️⃣ Focus on entry-level and fresher-friendly roles (receptionist, telesales, office assistant, junior admin, etc.).
3️⃣ Use platforms like Dubizzle, Indeed UAE, Naukrigulf, and GrabJobs — filter by “entry-level” or “fresher”.
3. Optimize LinkedIn Daily
1️⃣ Update your headline to:
👉 “Actively looking for a job in the UAE | On Visit Visa | Open to Admin, Sales, Customer Support roles”
2️⃣ Connect with recruiters, HRs, and hiring managers in your target industry. Send a short intro message.
3️⃣ Post about your job search every few days. Visibility increases trust and referrals.
4. Be Open to Internships or Commission-Based Roles
1️⃣Many companies offer unpaid internships or commission-only roles (especially in real estate, recruitment, etc.). These help you build local experience and connections, which can lead to full-time roles.
5. Join Active Job Groups
1️⃣WhatsApp/Telegram/Facebook groups like “UAE Jobs”, “Dubai Walk-ins”, etc.
2️⃣Engage daily. Many get jobs through real-time leads shared in these groups.
🚨 Final Tip:
👉 Don’t wait for the perfect job. Take a decent starting role and work your way up. The UAE rewards those who are persistent, proactive, and adaptable. less
