TCL’s Google TVs with an mmWave presence sensor are officially available, and they bring smart AI-powered features to the living room. These new QM9K series QD-Mini LED TVs are the first to launch with Google’s Gemini AI built-in, offering smarter voice control and contextual assistance. The 65-inch model starts at $2,999 at Best Buy, with larger versions going up to 98 inches.
Smarter with mmWave presence detection
The standout feature is the mmWave presence sensor. With it, the TV can detect when someone enters or leaves the room, automatically powering on or off. It can also display personalized widgets or screensavers based on your proximity.
This feature puts TCL in direct competition with Samsung’s The Frame, which also reacts to motion, though TCL’s use of mmWave adds more precision.
Gemini AI inside Google TV
These are the first TVs to ship with Gemini AI integrated into Google TV. TCL says Gemini can understand conversational queries and follow-up questions in context. That means you can ask about a show, request recommendations, or continue a conversation without starting from scratch.
Google has confirmed that Gemini will expand beyond TCL’s lineup, coming to Hisense TVs, the Google TV Streamer, and Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro later in 2025.
Price and availability
TCL’s new QM9K series starts at $2,999 for the 65-inch model. The price increases with size, topping out with the 98-inch version. The TVs are available now through Best Buy and other major retailers.
Why it matters
TCL’s Google TVs with an mmWave presence sensor are more than just premium displays — they’re a preview of how AI will transform home entertainment. With Gemini AI and smart motion detection, TCL is setting a new standard for TV intelligence in 2025.
