Samsung has officially expanded its audio empire in a big way. Samsung now owns Denon, Bowers & Wilkins, Marantz, Polk, and more audio brands after completing its $350 million acquisition of Sound United, Masimo’s former audio division. The deal was first announced in May and is now finalized, bringing some of the most iconic names in sound under Samsung’s growing audio portfolio.
A Major Boost To Samsung’s Audio Powerhouse
With this move, Samsung adds Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Definitive Technology, Polk Audio, HEOS, Classé, and Boston Acoustics to its lineup. These brands now sit alongside JBL and Harman Kardon, which Samsung acquired through its $8 billion Harman deal in 2016.
In short, Samsung isn’t just competing in smartphones, TVs, and appliances anymore—it’s rapidly becoming one of the strongest players in premium audio.
Harman’s Strategy Behind The Move
According to Harman’s lifestyle lead, Dave Rogers, this acquisition is about more than just adding new brands. “Sound United’s impressive roster of brands is rooted in a deep passion for sound, innovation, and commitment to quality that aligns with Harman’s own values,” he said in a statement.
The deal gives Harman—and by extension Samsung—new growth opportunities in both consumer and professional audio. It also strengthens Harman’s position as an industry leader while expanding its reach across global markets.
What This Means For Consumers
For audio fans, this could mean tighter integration between Samsung’s devices and its newly acquired brands. Imagine Samsung TVs and smartphones working seamlessly with Denon receivers, Bowers & Wilkins speakers, or Polk home theater systems.
At the same time, each brand under Sound United will continue to operate independently, preserving their unique sound identity and loyal fanbase. Samsung’s backing simply provides the resources to scale and innovate faster.
Samsung’s Growing Audio Legacy
This acquisition highlights Samsung’s long-term vision: building an audio ecosystem that rivals its dominance in displays and mobile tech. With Denon, Marantz, and Bowers & Wilkins now in the mix, Samsung has secured some of the most trusted names in sound.
The question now is how Samsung will leverage these brands in its ecosystem—whether through deeper hardware integration, software synergies, or entirely new audio experiences.
