NBCUniversal is taking a unique path in the streaming wars by focusing on partnerships rather than mergers. The company’s latest move brings Peacock’s Premium plan directly to YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States starting in early 2027. This multi-year global deal gives millions of viewers access to Peacock’s full lineup, including NFL and NBA coverage, “Saturday Night Live,” “Love Island USA,” “Law & Order: SVU,” and Bravo favorites like The Real Housewives franchise.
Content will be integrated into the YouTube experience, allowing viewers to discover and watch Peacock programming without leaving the platform. For YouTube, this makes YouTube Premium a stronger offering by adding another major entertainment service. It also aligns with YouTube’s broader strategy of becoming a hub for streaming, combining premium TV, live sports, and creator content in one place.
While competitors like Warner Bros. Discovery and Fox pursue major mergers, Peacock is leaning into distribution. The service has already partnered with Amazon and Apple, and the YouTube deal is its biggest effort yet to put content where audiences already are. This approach comes as media giants seek new ways to grow amid rising competition from platforms like YouTube and TikTok, which continue to capture more consumer viewing time.
The announcement follows Peacock reporting its first-ever quarterly profit in Q2 2026. The streaming service currently has 48 million paid subscribers. The YouTube partnership is expected to accelerate growth by tapping into YouTube Premium’s subscriber base.
The partnership extends beyond the U.S. NBCUniversal’s international streaming services, Universal+ and Hayu, will also become available through YouTube Premium in select markets. Additionally, starting later this summer, Peacock Premium will be available as a separate add-on subscription via YouTube Primetime Channels.
This partnership signals a shift in how streaming services compete. Instead of building walled gardens, companies like NBCUniversal are embedding their content within larger platforms to capture viewership. For consumers, it means easier access to premium content without juggling multiple apps. For YouTube, adding Peacock strengthens its position as a one-stop destination for both creator and professional content.
