Survey Enumerator (Consultant)
About Palladium:
Palladium is the implementing organization behind MKUKI-Kwale. As a global leader in the design, development, and delivery of Positive Impact, Palladium creates enduring social and economic value. We work with foundations, investors, governments, corporations, communities, and civil society to formulate strategies and implement solutions that generate lasting social, environmental, and financial benefits.
For the past 50 years, we have been making Positive Impact possible. With a team of more than 2,500 employees operating in 90 plus countries and a global network of more than 35,000 technical experts, Palladium has improved – and is committed to continuing to improve – economies, societies and most importantly, people’s lives.
This Opportunity:
Mradi wa Kuimarisha Kilimo-Biashara Kwale’ (MKUKI-Kwale) aims to develop a sustainable and inclusive value chain change model in a mine dependent smallholder farming community. Palladium has been contracted by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) to implement this Research for Development project.
The project takes advantage of an opportunity for ACIAR to build off an established Livelihoods Program in Kwale, Kenya, providing MKUKI-Kwale with a ‘head start’ through the following:
- Government and private sector buy-in has been achieved.
- Existing and established relationships and trust with the smallholder farming community.
- An existing level of understanding with respect to social dynamics, agronomic conditions, and value chains.
Key stakeholders involved in the established Livelihoods Program each play a different role. Government is focused on the number of people who benefit (breadth) whereas primary private sector partners are focused on socioeconomic impact with some degree of scale (breadth and depth). ACIAR brings an important missing piece – depth through rigorous evidence-based research, enabling breadth through the scale up and scale out of learnings.
The project lead will work with both the MKUKI-Kwale and Livelihoods Program teams to ensure success as the projects are intrinsically linked.
