Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3 brings AutoDrive and VRR to consoles
Cyberpunk 2077’s latest patch, Update 2.3, is set to launch on Thursday across Mac, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. One of the standout features is AutoDrive, a long-awaited addition that lets players travel hands-free to quest markers and destinations using cars or motorcycles. This enhancement boosts immersion and makes exploration smoother—especially helpful during long stretches of travel across Night City. The update also introduces official VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support for PS5 and Xbox, promising a more stable and tear-free experience during gameplay.
AutoDrive lets vehicles navigate Night City on their own
AutoDrive allows players to select any destination on the in-game map and let their vehicle handle the driving. Whether you're heading to a main mission, side gig, or just want to roam aimlessly, the feature brings a hands-off travel mode. Players can also activate cinematic camera angles to enhance the visual experience during transit. For those who prefer a more roleplay-driven option, the update unlocks AI-controlled taxi rides via Delamain—after a specific quest is completed.
Cyberpunk 2077 adds console-level VRR for smoother performance
Although VRR has been available at the system level on consoles, Update 2.3 integrates VRR natively into Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This helps minimize screen tearing and stuttering, especially in performance mode where frame rates tend to dip during action-heavy sequences. For gamers prioritizing visual stability, this official VRR support marks a significant performance boost, aligning Cyberpunk with other next-gen optimized titles.
PC and Mac upgrades: FSR 3.1, XeSS 2.0, HDR10+ and more
On PC, CD Projekt Red is upping the graphics ante with support for AMD FSR 3.1, Intel XeSS 2.0, and HDR10+. Future updates will enable AMD’s FSR 4, pending a compatible driver release. Meanwhile, Mac users finally get their turn to explore Night City—provided they own an Apple Silicon Mac with at least 16GB unified memory. Although the Nintendo Switch 2 version will receive Update 2.3 at a later date, the overall rollout shows CDPR’s continued push for cross-platform parity and technical improvements.
