Welding Technician

Role Overview

Burn’s Welding Technician fabricates stove components by welding top rings and institutional stove frames to drawing and production requirements. The work calls for accurate fitting, consistent weld quality and careful finishing, helping ensure that finished products are structurally sound and production can proceed with minimal rework.

Key Responsibilities

• Weld stove top rings to approved drawings, checking alignment, dimensions and weld patterns, and completing post-weld finishing while limiting distortion.
• Fabricate institutional stove frames, preparing joints and checking that frames are square, flat and structurally sound.
• Use MIG, TIG or ARC equipment as required, along with jigs, fixtures and gauges, to maintain reliable welds and dimensional accuracy.
• Support automated welding equipment during commissioning, setup trials and production ramp-up; help identify and resolve operational issues.
• Work with engineering and maintenance colleagues to refine welding parameters, fixtures and cycle times, and assist with changeovers and basic machine adjustments.
• Coordinate with production, quality and engineering teams to raise concerns about fit-up, design or process and help resolve defects promptly.
• Handle materials and completed parts carefully, keep the work area orderly, and follow required welding, electrical and fire-safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Help develop or improve fixtures and jigs, support the instruction of casual team members and oversee work when required.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Two to four years of hands-on welding or metal-fabrication experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Practical experience with MIG, TIG and ARC welding in fabrication or production work.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints and welding symbols accurately.
• Working knowledge of welding methods, metallurgy and material properties, particularly for mild steel and stainless steel.
• Experience using jigs, fixtures and gauges to support accurate fabrication.
• Experience in stove manufacturing, sheet-metal work or a related industry is an advantage.
