Role Overview
This role puts you at the centre of how the brand looks and performs inside retail spaces across several African markets. Day to day, you will define visual standards, drive seasonal and promotional campaign rollouts, and spend significant time in stores auditing execution, coaching teams, and fine-tuning displays to lift sales. Your work directly connects store design, marketing strategy, and commercial performance, making sure every location delivers a consistent, compelling customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement visual merchandising guidelines for all store locations, adapting seasonal campaigns and promotional executions to suit different African markets.
- Collaborate with store development, design, and operations teams to embed visual standards into new store openings, refurbishments, and relocations across the region.
- Translate marketing and product launch objectives into impactful in-store displays that boost product visibility, sell-through, and overall shopper engagement.
- Conduct regular store audits and field visits across multiple African countries to check compliance, identify improvement areas, and provide hands-on coaching to regional and store teams.
- Develop space planning and layout strategies that improve turnover per square metre, optimise customer flow, and reflect local shopping behaviours.
- Monitor retail trends and competitor activity across Africa, recommending proactive adjustments to maintain brand relevance and market positioning.
- Manage the visual merchandising budget, display materials, and supplier relationships to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within cost parameters.
- Lead practical training and capability development sessions for store and regional personnel during on-site visits.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across multiple African countries for store visits, audits, training, and on-site support.
- Diploma or degree in Visual Merchandising, Retail Design, Marketing, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in retail visual merchandising, including at least 3 years in a regional or leadership capacity.
- Proven ability to drive sales performance through effective visual merchandising in a multi-store, multi-market environment.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with planogram tools or Adobe Creative Suite is an advantage.
- Experience in building materials, home improvement, or fast-moving consumer goods retail is a plus, though not mandatory.
