Our client is looking for a reliable and disciplined Van Driver to manage logistics and transportation tasks on a part-time basis. Based in Ruiru, this position is critical for the safe and timely movement of goods within Nairobi and its environs. The ideal candidate must be a seasoned driver with a spotless road record, capable of handling vehicle checks, cargo security, and route optimization. We are seeking a professional who prides themselves on punctuality and possesses the physical stamina required for loading and offloading tasks.
Core Work Functions
Transport Operations & Navigation

Operate the company vehicle in strict accordance with traffic laws and high road safety standards.

Execute delivery and pick-up schedules efficiently across Nairobi and neighboring regions.

Plan routes to ensure maximum punctuality and provide immediate updates on any transit delays.

Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when representing the company to clients and partners.
Vehicle Stewardship & Technical Checks

Conduct mandatory pre-trip inspections, including monitoring fuel levels, tire pressure, braking systems, and lighting.

Ensure the van remains in a clean, presentable, and roadworthy condition at all times.

Proactively identify and report any mechanical anomalies or maintenance needs to the supervisor.

Utilize safety equipment and follow company protocols for incident management.
Logistics & Documentation

Supervise and assist in the careful loading and unloading of goods to ensure zero damage during transit.

Implement proper cargo-securing techniques to stabilize the load for various road conditions.

Maintain accurate trip logs, recording mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery completion.

Report any accidents, vehicle damage, or delivery inconsistencies immediately upon occurrence.
Professional Prerequisites
License & Background

Certification: Must possess a valid Class B, C & E driving license.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ verifiable experience as a van driver or in a similar commercial driving capacity.

Knowledge: Extensive familiarity with the Nairobi road network and current traffic regulations.

History: A clean driving record with no history of major traffic violations or negligence.

Flexibility: Ability to work part-time hours, including readiness for weekend shifts if required.

Technical Skill: Basic mechanical knowledge is a significant advantage for on-road troubleshooting.
