Role Overview
As a UI Designer at Britam, you will craft clean, accessible, and visually engaging interfaces for web and mobile products that support the company’s digital customer journeys. Working alongside senior designers, product managers, and developers, you will take concepts from early wireframes through to polished, production-ready UI components. Your attention to detail and user-centred mindset will directly influence how customers interact with Britam’s digital tools and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups that translate business requirements into clear, usable interface solutions.
- Build and maintain UI component libraries and design assets in Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar tools to ensure consistency across projects.
- Partner with product owners and senior designers to define the visual direction of new features and enhancements for responsive web and mobile experiences.
- Participate in user research and usability testing sessions, then turn observations into concrete design refinements.
- Hand off design specifications to developers with clear annotations, asset exports, and interaction notes to support accurate implementation.
- Review built interfaces in development and provide design QA feedback to keep the final product aligned with the approved vision.
- Keep an active pulse on UI/UX trends, accessibility standards, and design system best practices, and share relevant insights with the team.
- Document design decisions, guidelines, and workflow updates to strengthen team knowledge sharing and project continuity.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
- Hands-on proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or equivalent software.
- A solid grasp of core design principles, including typography, colour theory, layout, hierarchy, and responsive grid systems.
- Strong attention to visual detail and a portfolio demonstrating user-centred interface design work for digital products.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and collaborate effectively across product, design, and engineering teams.
- A constructive approach to feedback, treating review cycles as an opportunity to improve the quality and usability of designs.
- Genuine curiosity about UX research methods and a willingness to learn from user insights and data.
- Ability to manage multiple design tasks in a fast-moving environment while keeping deliverables organised and on schedule.
