Role Overview
You will take charge of all retail operations within an assigned zone, directly managing field agents and Duka Assistants to hit sales, repayment, and community impact targets. Day to day, you will move between coaching your team on the ground, analysing channel performance, and coordinating inventory and merchandising across multiple outlets. This role matters because it connects the company’s growth goals with real‑world execution in local markets, turning strategy into tangible results for customers and the business alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full performance cycle for your zone: set targets, track progress, and intervene to keep sales, repayments, and impact metrics on track.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (supply chain, finance, marketing) to ensure smooth operations from ordering to last‑mile delivery.
- Plan and run weekly training sessions for Duka Assistants and Field Agents, covering product knowledge, sales techniques, and operational procedures.
- Build weekly work schedules for your field team, balancing coverage across outlets with efficiency of routes and priorities.
- Oversee inventory levels at each Duka – place orders, validate deliveries, enter data accurately, and maintain visual merchandising standards.
- Enforce internal controls at the point of sale to prevent losses and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Actively recruit, onboard, and coach your team members, using performance data to guide promotions or corrective actions.
- Support the design and roll‑out of promotional campaigns tailored to your zone, measuring results and adjusting tactics as needed.
- Spend time directly engaging customers to understand their needs, map typical buying journeys, and model excellent service for your team.
- Identify new sales opportunities – such as cross‑selling or community events – and guide your team to capitalise on them.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (tertiary education) or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in a sales, partner, or channel management role, with proven ability to manage multiple retail touchpoints.
- Strong command of Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) for reporting, planning, and communication.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili (written and spoken) – essential for training, customer conversations, and cross‑team coordination.
- Demonstrated success in working toward strategic goals, not just daily tasks – you can link short‑term actions to longer‑term outcomes.
- Analytical mindset: comfortable interpreting sales data, spotting trends, and making decisions based on facts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – able to explain complex ideas simply to field teams and external partners.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment and adapt quickly to shifting priorities.
