Job Title: Waste Collection Truck Driver
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Waste Collection Truck Driver to join our operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting waste from assigned commercial and residential clients, supervising loaders, ensuring truck compliance, and maintaining high standards of customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Collect waste from assigned commercial and residential clients efficiently and responsibly.
- Supervise loaders and ensure they conduct themselves properly in the presence of company clients.
- Verify that loaders only collect the client’s waste and nothing else.
- Complete delivery forms and forward documentation for timely processing.
- Perform basic mechanical duties as required.
- Operate tipper and skip loader trucks safely and effectively.
- Maintain truck fuel efficiency above a specified level (dependent on the vehicle).
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (tires, fuel, oil, etc.) and submit checklists to the logistics team.
- Ensure no overloading of trucks occurs.
- Secure the tarpaulin cover to protect loaded waste materials.
- Maintain full compliance with NTSA regulations at all times.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Interact professionally with clients, address concerns, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction in line with company core values.
- Maintain accurate records of collections, deliveries, and incidents, and communicate clearly with the logistics team.
- Advise the logistics team on route optimization opportunities.
- Immediately report any suspicions of theft or discrepancies to the Logistics Team or Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum KCPE education or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a truck driver, preferably in a manufacturing/industrial setting or related field.
- Knowledge of local routes, NTSA regulations, and highway rules.
- Ability to operate trucks and related equipment.
- Strong commitment to safety and environmental regulations.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and other hours as needed.
