Role Overview
As Treasury Manager at Pesapal, you will oversee the daily cash and liquidity operations that keep high-volume digital payments flowing smoothly across multiple markets. This role is central to maintaining the trust and reliability that Pesapal’s payments ecosystem depends on.
Key Responsibilities
- Track daily cash positions across all bank accounts, digital wallets, and settlement accounts, then develop short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts to inform funding decisions.
- Optimise idle cash balances by recommending short-term investments that align with company policy, while always keeping enough liquidity to meet operational needs and daily settlement obligations across every market.
- Manage relationships with banks, payment networks, and financial partners, including overseeing bank account administration, mandates, and treasury documentation to ensure compliance with approved policies.
- Ensure settlement accounts are adequately funded for merchant payouts, card scheme requirements, and partner payments, while safeguarding customer funds according to regulatory standards.
- Monitor and improve settlement reconciliation processes across all operating markets, working with Settlement Operations to resolve discrepancies and drive faster, more accurate funding.
- Identify and mitigate liquidity, foreign exchange, settlement, and counterparty risks by enforcing treasury policies, internal controls, and governance frameworks; support internal and external audits.
- Prepare treasury performance reports, liquidity analyses, and cash flow summaries for executive leadership, and ensure accurate accounting of all treasury transactions during monthly close.
- Lead, coach, and develop the treasury team by setting KPIs, fostering accountability, and driving automation and process improvements that increase efficiency.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA(K), ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification is mandatory; a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation is a strong plus.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in treasury, cash management, corporate finance, or financial operations, ideally within fintech, banking, payment services, or financial services.
- Proven ability to manage treasury operations across multiple markets, including understanding different regulatory environments and banking infrastructures.
- Deep knowledge of payment ecosystems, settlement processes, and banking operations, particularly in high-volume transaction environments.
- Strong analytical skills for cash forecasting, financial modelling, and risk assessment; advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP and treasury management systems.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management abilities to maintain productive partnerships with banks, payment networks, and internal stakeholders.
