Role Overview
This position centres on strengthening the bank’s trade finance footprint by spotting new opportunities, growing the existing portfolio, and actively driving adoption of the bank’s trade products. In day-to-day work, you will engage commercial clients, structure appropriate trade solutions, track how the portfolio is performing, and propose actions to keep transactions profitable and sound. Your work directly supports the bank’s commercial growth targets and ensures trade financing remains a reliable, competitive proposition in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively research and identify prospective clients who need trade finance, and convert leads into long-term business relationships.
- Present and market trade finance instruments including letters of credit, guarantees, collections, and related services to corporate and commercial clients.
- Analyse existing client portfolios to uncover opportunities for further product uptake, additional limits, or expanded usage.
- Track individual trade transactions and portfolio-level performance, flagging any signs of deterioration, default risk, or operational delays.
- Collaborate with internal credit, compliance, and operations teams to ensure proposals are properly assessed, approved, and implemented without friction.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, pipeline status, and transactional data in internal systems, and prepare periodic performance reports.
- Provide clients with clear guidance on trade documentation, pricing, and process expectations, acting as the dedicated point of contact for their trade finance needs.
- Gather feedback from the market and clients on the bank’s trade offering to support product improvements and future service development.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A business-related degree with a second-class honour or equivalent is essential.
- At least two years of work experience in sales, business development, relationship management, or product development within a financial services environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge of trade finance products, workflows, and underlying documentation, with the ability to explain them to varied audiences.
- Solid commercial acumen and a results-oriented approach to identifying and closing opportunity.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills for building trust with clients and collaborating well with internal partners.
- Analytical capability to review portfolio returns, spot usage patterns, and make well-reasoned decisions on recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of drafting reports and delivering persuasive client presentations.
