Role Overview
This field-based position places you at the heart of every tiling project supplied by MICASSO, a leading tile and surface solutions brand under Twyford International Kenya Ltd. You will travel regularly to construction sites and residential installations throughout Kenya to provide practical, on-the-ground technical leadership to tiling teams, troubleshoot emerging problems, and train local installers so that every project meets the brand’s quality benchmarks. Working closely with contractors, foremen, site managers, and homeowners, you ensure that MICASSO products are handled correctly from substrate preparation through final grouting and finishing.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit active MICASSO-supplied projects and residential sites on a scheduled basis to oversee installation quality and offer hands-on guidance to tiling crews.
- Advise on correct procedures for substrate conditioning, setting out, tile layout, adhesive mixing, levelling, joint spacing, grouting, and final finishing.
- Detect and diagnose installation defects such as hollow tiles, cracking, poor bonding, uneven surfaces, incorrect joint gaps, and colour variation, then recommend practical corrective action.
- Support contractors and site teams in applying remedies and rework while monitoring progress until each issue is resolved to standard.
- Deliver training sessions for local tilers and installation teams on proper techniques, large-format tile handling, and modern installation systems.
- Develop and update installation guidelines, checklists, and training materials based on observed site challenges and product performance.
- Respond to installation-related customer complaints with clear technical explanations and documented solutions, maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Keep detailed site inspection records, capture photographs of issues and completed work, and report recurring quality trends to management for continuous improvement.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on professional tiling experience, including substrate preparation, setting out, cutting, thin-bed adhesive application, levelling, grouting, and defect correction.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory, quality inspection, site supervision, or technical training role.
- Certificate, Diploma, TVET qualification, or equivalent in Construction, Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Materials, or related field — though strong practical experience may substitute.
- Proven ability to distinguish whether a defect stems from the tile, substrate, adhesive, workmanship, environmental factors, or installation method, and to recommend the correct fix.
- Experience on large construction, residential, or commercial projects; knowledge of tile adhesives, grouts, and common construction materials used in Kenya.
- Comfort with frequent travel across Kenya to multiple sites, plus a valid Kenyan driving licence.
- Strong communication, coaching, and time-management skills with the ability to work independently and handle concurrent projects.
- Safety awareness, attention to detail, and a customer-service orientation.
Preferred qualifications: Experience training professional tilers, previous work with tile manufacturers or building-material distributors, established relationships with contractors and foremen, technical certification in tile installation, and familiarity with large-format tiles and modern installation systems.
What We Offer / Why Join

If you thrive on practical challenges and take pride in seeing a job done right, this position offers the chance to work independently, build lasting relationships across the construction sector, and play a key part in every successful installation.
