Theatre Nurse

Role Overview

This theatre nursing role supports safe, well-coordinated care before, during and after surgical procedures. The nurse helps prepare the operating room and patient, maintains sterile conditions throughout surgery, and works closely with the surgical team to protect patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the theatre, equipment and supplies for scheduled procedures.
• Support patient preparation and provide perioperative care in line with the surgical plan.
• Maintain sterile technique and help prevent contamination during procedures.
• Work collaboratively with surgeons and other theatre staff to support smooth, safe operations.
• Monitor patient safety throughout the perioperative period and raise concerns promptly.
• Help ensure theatre practices and care meet professional standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma in Nursing.
• Higher Diploma in Perioperative or Theatre Nursing.
• Valid Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) licence.
• At least two years of operating-theatre experience.
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, patient safety and perioperative care.
