Role Overview
This role owns the growth of in vitro diagnostics and laboratory product sales across hospitals, clinics, and reference laboratories in Kenya. Day to day, the holder combines hands-on technical support—product demonstrations, training sessions, and troubleshooting—with active prospecting and pipeline management. The position matters because it directly expands access to reliable diagnostic solutions and strengthens the employer’s presence among healthcare decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect for new accounts and uncover untapped market segments within the IVD and laboratory space, turning them into active customers.
- Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations, and on-site training that show laboratory staff how to get accurate, efficient results from the equipment and reagents offered.
- Cultivate long-term relationships with laboratory managers, hospital procurement teams, clinicians, and other key influencers who shape purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing colleagues to shape IVD sales tactics, and represent the company at customer visits, trade exhibitions, and industry conferences.
- Keep a close watch on customer requirements, competitor promotions, and shifts in laboratory testing trends, then feed that market intelligence back to management.
- Hit monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets by actively managing each opportunity from first contact through to signed order and closed sale.
- Produce routine sales reports and keep accurate records of every customer interaction, quotation, opportunity, and sales activity in the CRM or company system.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences from an accredited institution.
- Valid registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
- At least four to five years of dedicated IVD sales experience, ideally gained at Sales Manager or senior sales representative level.
- Demonstrated history of winning new business and growing revenue from laboratory and diagnostic products.
- Comfortable leading technical presentations, product demonstrations, and business development conversations with scientific and clinical audiences.
- Strong communication, negotiation, customer relationship management, and commercial acumen.
